Cinema updates: ‘Livros Restantes’ arrives in Portugal as Nolan’s ‘A Odisseia’ breaks records

The Portuguese film industry is seeing significant activity with the release of two notable productions. The Brazilian film ‘Livros Restantes’, directed by Márcia Paraíso and starring Denise Fraga, is arriving in Portuguese cinemas. The story follows a woman in her 50s who decides to move from Brazil to Portugal, distributing books that hold her personal memories before starting a new life.

Simultaneously, Christopher Nolan’s ‘A Odisseia’ is breaking box office records for Universal. An adaptation of Homer’s epic poem, the film stars Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway as Odysseus and Penelope. The production has been a subject of global discussion regarding its technical quality and adaptation of the ancient Greek text. It continues to show strong performance in Portuguese theaters, including availability in IMAX format.
