Cinema updates: Maria Drăgan biopic filming and Tudor Giurgiu’s new film

Film production continues in Chișinău for ‘Blestemul Mariei Drăgan’, a biopic dedicated to the life of the influential Romanian-language singer Maria Drăgan. The production, which has completed nearly half of the film, is currently filming scenes set during Drăgan’s student years. To recreate the atmosphere of the 1960s and 1980s, the crew is utilizing locations such as the Moldova State University and various local cultural houses. Alexandrina Grecu portrays the titular role, while Roman Malai plays her lover, Alexandru.

In separate cinematic news, director Tudor Giurgiu has released his fourth feature film, ‘3 zile în septembrie’. Moving away from his previous historical and epic themes, this production focuses on the intimacy of a couple and was filmed using a ‘guerrilla style’ independent approach with limited resources.
