Cinemateca Nacional to screen 10 restored Venezuelan film classics

The Fundación Cinemateca Nacional will host a showcase of ten restored Venezuelan film classics from October 27 to 31. The screenings will take place at 6:00 PM at the Sala Cinemateca MBA, located within the Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas.

To coincide with World Audiovisual Heritage Day on October 27, the program begins with the documentary short ‘Venezuela turística’ (1938) and the 4K restored documentary ‘Juan Vicente Gómez y su época’ (1975). The event includes film forums featuring members of the Venezuelan Film Restoration Program, a collaborative initiative between the Centro Nacional Autónomo de Cinematografía (CNAC), the Cinemateca Nacional, and Bolívar Films.

Other scheduled screenings include ‘La Venus de Nácar’ (1932) and ‘Manoa’ (1981), ‘Los milagros de la Divina Pastora’ (1928) alongside the Cannes-awarded ‘Oriana’ (1985), and the documentary ‘Carretera Guatire-Caucagua’ (1938) with the 4K restored classic ‘Simplicio’ (1978).
