Cinematic milestones celebrated in Cluj-Napoca and New York

Cultural events are highlighting significant cinematic works in Romania and the United States. In Cluj-Napoca, the German Cultural Center is organizing a cine-concert featuring F. W. Murnau’s 1926 silent masterpiece, ‘Faust’. To mark the film’s centenary, the screening will be accompanied by a live performance from a sextet combining classical, string, and electronic music, with a score specifically composed by Andrei Bobiș / Cirkular.

In New York, the Romanian Cultural Institute is hosting an evening dedicated to filmmaker Andrei Ujică at the e-flux Screening Room. This event coincides with a major retrospective of Ujică’s work at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), marking the first complete North American retrospective of his films. The program includes screenings of ‘Videograms of a Revolution’, ‘The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceaușescu’, and ‘Things We Said Today’, followed by a discussion on the relationship between cinema, history, and political memory.
