Cinematica Festival shifts focus to sound and body
The 13th edition of the Cinematica international festival, directed by Simona Lisi, will take place in Ancona and Osimo, Italy. Following twelve editions focused on the relationship between the body and visual imagery, this year’s program shifts its focus toward the relationship between the body and sound.
The festival features 27 events held across seven days, involving 76 international and Italian artists, scholars, and professionals. Scheduled activities include multidisciplinary performances, dance, installations, films, workshops, and meetings. In Ancona, events will be held from October 22 to 25 and on November 1 at various locations, including the Mole Vanvitelliana and the Museo Tattile Statale Omero. In Osimo, the festival will take place on October 30 and 31.
Artistic director Simona Lisi stated that the shift aims to move away from a saturation of visual consumption to approach the more intimate origins of perception by “turning off vision to ignite imagination.” Marta Paraventi, Ancona’s Councilor for Culture, noted that the festival is a major cultural pillar for the city and will be the first to utilize the renovated Sala Tabacchi at the Mole.
