Cinemira International Children's Film Festival returns to Hungary

The 9th Cinemira International Children's and Youth Film Festival will take place in Hungary during the autumn break. The event features a diverse program including Japanese anime from Annecy, award-winning Danish children's films, and various short films catering to audiences from preschoolers to young adults.

Scheduled to run from October 24 to October 31, 2026, the festival will kick off at the Marczibányi Téri Művelődési Központ with film screenings and interactive programs. The closing festivities on October 31 will include a Halloween-themed program and an awards ceremony. Additional screenings will be held at various locations throughout Budapest during the break.

Under the motto ‘Move and Create!’, the festival offers workshops in areas such as stunt work, film dance, dubbing, and music video production. Attendees may also interact with filmmakers, including Belgian animation director Vincent Bal and award-winning director Gábor Herendi. Nora Lakos, the founding director of Cinemira, noted that the festival provides Hungarian premieres and films that address social issues relevant to young people.
