Cines Siglo XXI begins 3.6 million peso modernization in Yucatán
Cines Siglo XXI has begun a modernization process for its facilities in Yucatán, involving an initial investment of 3.6 million pesos. The upgrades aim to enhance the cinematic experience through the installation of laser technology projectors, automated courtesy lighting, new acoustic drapery, and maintenance of screens and seating.
David Escalante Lombard, Director General of the Patronato de las Unidades de Servicios Culturales y Turísticos del Estado de Yucatán (Cultur), stated that the first renovated room is already complete and undergoing testing. To ensure the complex remains operational during the rehabilitation, work will be carried out gradually across the remaining rooms and complementary areas.
The renovation also includes updates to the concession areas, such as new popcorn machines, to improve service. Officials noted that while service quality is being elevated, ticket prices will remain at accessible levels. This marks the first major intervention at the complex since 2015, with the goal of opening renovated rooms to the public before the end of 2026.
