Cinépolis targets R$ 410 million in Brazilian box office revenue
Mexican cinema chain Cinépolis is targeting R$ 410 million in box office revenue in Brazil by 2026. To compete with the rise of streaming services and recover from pandemic-era shifts in consumer behavior, the company has invested over R$ 80 million in technology over the last five years.
Key investments include upgrading from xenon projectors to laser equipment, enhancing digital channels, and improving self-service options. The company’s strategy to differentiate the theatrical experience focuses on VIP rooms, larger screens, and diverse content beyond Hollywood releases, such as live shows and specialized productions.
Currently operating 57 complexes across 42 Brazilian cities, Cinépolis reported R$ 334 million in box office revenue in 2025. Future growth will prioritize renovating existing theaters rather than rapid physical expansion.
