CINTAA President Poonam Dhillon denies financial misconduct allegations

Poonam Dhillon, president of the Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA), has denied allegations of financial irregularities and misuse of power within the organization. Addressing the media alongside general secretary Padmini Kolhapure, Dhillon stated that all funds raised by the association are properly accounted for and used for their intended purposes, asserting that ‘the records speak for themselves.’

The controversy follows the resignation of several members from CINTAA’s executive committee. Former general secretary Upasana Singh has accused the current leadership of an authoritarian approach and a lack of transparency. In response, Dhillon dismissed these claims as ‘completely baseless and false’ and clarified that the current committee is entirely legal.

Dhillon also addressed rumors regarding the association’s legitimacy and its relationship with the CAWT trust, which was established to provide financial and medical assistance to artists. The leadership expressed regret over recent statements they believe have tarnished the reputation of the organization.
