CIO launches domestic charger project in Japan via Makuake
CIO, an Osaka-based electronics company, has launched its domestic manufacturing project on the crowdfunding platform Makuake. The initiative marks the company's 10th anniversary and focuses on utilizing Japanese factories and domestic components.
The first product released under this project is the NovaPort DUO III 65W2C, a rapid charger featuring two USB-C ports and a maximum output of 65W. The device is manufactured by Asahi Electronics in Date City, Fukushima Prefecture. Of its 210 total components, 53.3% are sourced from Japanese manufacturers.
Technical features include a TFT LCD display for monitoring power supply status, smartphone app compatibility for remote operation, and four distinct output modes: Full Power, Safety Power, Power Save, and Custom. The charger is designed with the USB-C ports positioned at the bottom to prevent accidental disconnection due to cable weight. The planned general retail price is 8,880 yen.
