Ciontoli family members under investigation for voluntary homicide
All members of the Ciontoli family are now under investigation for voluntary homicide following the 2015 death of Marco Vannini in Ladispoli. The Civitavecchia Public Prosecutor's Office has expanded the investigation beyond Antonio Ciontoli, a Navy intelligence officer, to include four other individuals present in the home at the time of the incident.
Investigators have cited several suspicious elements, including gunpowder traces found on at least three people and on Vannini’s shoes, attempts to mislead emergency services at the hospital, and the disappearance of clothing. The prosecution is also examining the delay in requesting medical assistance and the provision of false statements to authorities. While Antonio Ciontoli initially claimed the shot was an accidental discharge from a service weapon, conflicting testimonies and physical evidence have led prosecutors to pursue voluntary homicide charges for the entire family.
