Ciprian Ciucu remains under judicial control in Bucharest

The Bucharest Tribunal has rejected an appeal by Ciprian Ciucu, the Mayor of Bucharest, maintaining his judicial control for an additional 60 days until October 15. Ciucu is currently under investigation by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) for bribery.

The court's decision upholds several restrictions, including a ban on leaving Romania without prior authorization from a prosecutor. Additionally, the court denied Ciucu's request to lift restrictions preventing him from contacting specific individuals, namely the Mayor of Sector 6 and an employee of the Urbanism Directorate.

Ciucu has maintained his innocence, stating that his repeated legal challenges to the judicial control are a symbolic effort to defend his rights and freedoms. He argued that the restrictions, particularly the travel ban, hinder his ability to perform his official duties as mayor.
