Ciranda Tradicional wins Manacapuru Festival bicampeonato

Ciranda Tradicional has secured the bicampeonato at the Festival de Cirandas de Manacapuru in Amazonas, Brazil. The group earned 279.8 points with their performance titled ‘Terricídio: Quando a Terra Enfrenta o Genocídio’, which addressed Amazonian degradation and the resistance of traditional peoples. In addition to the championship, the group received the award for Best Fan Base (Torcida Oficial da Tradicional).

Guerreiros Mura finished in second place with 278.6 points, presenting the theme ‘Ykawarù: A Cosmogonia do Bem e do Mal Apuricá’, inspired by the ancestral narratives of the Apuricá people.

The event also featured a symbolic Hors-Concours trophy for Flor Matizada. The group chose not to compete for the title following the death of artist Jone Salgado Martins (known as Nico) during the assembly of an allegory. Flor Matizada performed a tribute to the artist with the theme ‘Witoriro, o Futuro Ancestral’.
