Circle Internet Group stock plunges as competition rises and leads tokenized stock trading

Circle Internet Group's shares dropped 44.6% in June 2026, hitting a single‑day low of 17.6% after the company was removed from five Russell indexes and faced new competition from the Open USD stablecoin, a project backed by Visa, BlackRock, Alphabet and Samsung. The rival stablecoin aims to challenge USDC's market share, which currently holds roughly 26% of the stablecoin market.

Despite the stock decline, Circle topped the tokenized‑stock leaderboard on decentralized exchanges, recording $32 million in weekly DEX volume and edging out Micron. The activity underscores growing investor interest in tokenized equities and highlights Circle’s continued role as a major provider of regulated stablecoins and digital‑asset infrastructure.
