Circle to acquire Tazapay for $400M to expand USDC global reach

Circle Internet Group has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Singapore-based B2B payments firm Tazapay in an all-stock deal valued at approximately $400 million. The acquisition, expected to close in 2027 pending regulatory approvals, aims to expand Circle’s USDC reach across more than 100 markets by leveraging Tazapay’s banking relationships and local payout infrastructure. Tazapay currently processes over $25 billion in annualized payment volume, with roughly 60% of its transactions involving stablecoins.

In separate developments, U. S. Bank successfully completed a live cross-border payment pilot using its proprietary USBDC stablecoin on the Stellar blockchain. The transaction moved funds between bank entities in North America and Europe, testing the bank’s Digital Asset Platform for functions such as minting, redemption, freezing, and clawback controls.

Tether and Fasanara Capital have also launched StableFund, a $400 million private credit vehicle. The fund intends to use the USDT stablecoin as a settlement mechanism for international financing, targeting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and consumer credit markets across more than 60 countries, with a goal of attracting up to $3 billion in institutional capital.
