Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya positions itself as backup for F1 and MotoGP

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya recently hosted a successful World Endurance Championship (WEC) event, serving as a contingency plan after two rounds were canceled due to conflict in the Middle East. The event drew over 55,000 spectators and received positive feedback from teams and drivers.

Ignasi Armengol, director of FIRA Circuit, stated that the venue maintains high-level infrastructure and a flexible team capable of preparing major events on short notice. While Formula 1 and MotoGP currently intend to follow their original schedules in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, the circuit remains in permanent readiness to host these categories should geopolitical instability necessitate a change in venue.
