Circular economy discussed as tool for climate resilience and business growth
During the first debate session of the Foro ReGenera organized by elDiario.es, experts discussed how circular economy models serve as both tools for climate resilience and opportunities for business growth.
Ana Puente, Deputy Director General of Sustainable and Digital Finance at the Ministry of Economy, Commerce, and Enterprise, emphasized that environmental resilience is essential for long-term improvement amidst rising temperatures and natural disasters. She noted that circular economy is a key component of this effort, supported by initiatives such as Spain’s Green Book of Sustainable Finance approved in late 2024.
Renata Bárbara Kubus from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid highlighted that circularity increases efficiency by reducing dependence on raw materials. The discussion also featured Macarena Ruiz-Quintana, Sustainability Director at BBVA, addressing the intersection of sustainability and profitability.
