Circus performances face disruptions in the Netherlands
Circus operations in the Netherlands are facing different challenges in Oosterhout and Veen. In Oosterhout, Circus Barani, presented by the Zinnecker family, is holding its final performances of the season at Slotjesveld on October 24 and 25. This marks the end of circus visits to the city for the time being, as the local Christmas circus will not return this year.
In Veen, the municipality of Altena has revoked a permit for Circus Bossle to perform on Sunday. The decision follows concerns regarding public order and the local community's emphasis on Sunday rest in the predominantly Christian village. While the municipality claims the circus violated permit terms by arriving and beginning setup on Sunday, Leon Bossle of Circus Bossle denies these allegations, stating they only parked trucks and placed animals in a field.
