CIRES optimizes energy efficiency at Estarreja cogeneration plant
CIRES (Companhia Industrial de Resinas Sintéticas), a Shin-Etsu Group company specializing in PVC production, has implemented new measures to optimize the energy efficiency of its cogeneration plant in Estarreja, Portugal.
The facility utilizes a natural gas turbine to produce both electrical and thermal energy. To enhance global system performance, ENERGEST implemented an additional measure involving the integration of a third heat economizer (heat recovery unit). This addition strengthens the capacity to harness energy from exhaust gases.
Previously, ENERGEST was responsible for the design, construction, and installation of the recovery boiler and the Balance of Plant (BoP). The recovery boiler is capable of producing 35 T/h of saturated steam at 10 barg in post-combustion mode or 14 T/h in recuperative mode. These continuous efficiency improvements are intended to maintain the industry's international competitiveness.
