Ciro Immobile announces retirement from professional football

Italian striker Ciro Immobile has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36. The decision was communicated through his most recent club, Paris FC.

Immobile leaves behind a prolific career characterized by 350 goals and 82 assists across 656 matches. He is notably the first Italian player to win the Serie A top scorer title four times and was the all-time leading scorer for Lazio. His career highlights include winning the UEFA Europa League in 2018 and securing the European Championship with the Italian national team in 2021.

Reflecting on his decision, Immobile stated that while he loves the profession, he wishes to spend more time with his family. His career also included a stint with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, where he struggled to find consistent form, and time at clubs such as Juventus, Pescara, and Torino.
