Ciryl Gane prepares for Josh Hokit at UFC 334

Ciryl Gane is set to defend his UFC heavyweight title against Josh Hokit at UFC 334 on November 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Gane was promoted to undisputed champion following Tom Aspinall vacating the title due to eye injuries.

Gane’s longtime coach, Fernand Lopez, has compared Hokit’s fighting style to former champion Cain Velasquez. Lopez noted that Hokit presents a unique challenge because he does not rely solely on wrestling; instead, he combines forward pressure, striking, and level changes to force opponents to make constant decisions.

Lopez emphasized that Hokit can finish fights through striking, ground-and-pound, or submissions. The training camp for Gane will focus on managing the transitions between Hokit’s striking and wrestling threats to prevent the challenger from erasing the distance Gane prefers to maintain.
