CISA issues 2030 strategy and warns of critical PHP vulnerabilities

The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has launched a new strategic roadmap titled ‘CISA 2030: Defend, Harden, Prevail’. The strategy marks a shift from passive defense to an aggressive, anticipatory posture aimed at identifying and removing adversary footholds in critical infrastructure before they can be exploited. The plan is organized into three pillars: leading national cyber defense, prioritizing national infrastructure security, and mobilizing national resilience.

Simultaneously, CISA has confirmed that malicious actors are actively exploiting two critical vulnerabilities in the PHP programming language, known as ‘PHP2Shell’. These flaws allow attackers to gain remote control of systems without credentials. Given that PHP is used by approximately 70% of internet-facing servers, CISA has ordered U.S. civilian federal agencies to apply security patches within three days. Researchers noted that while these vulnerabilities remained dormant for years, artificial intelligence was recently used to develop effective exploitation methods.
