Cisco retires Azure Local bundles following Microsoft policy change

Cisco announced the retirement of its Azure Local bundles, which combined Cisco UCS servers and networking with Microsoft’s Azure Local software to provide on‑premises hyper‑converged infrastructure. The End‑of‑Sale date is set for 24 October 2026 and the final ship date for 24 January 2027, with no direct replacement offered. The move follows Microsoft’s removal of support for the “Validated Nodes” model, now requiring vendors to deliver Premier or Integrated Solutions with stricter hardware specifications.

Cisco said customers should migrate to alternative HCI solutions, recommending its Cisco Compute portfolio or third‑party options such as Nutanix. The decision comes after Cisco discontinued its HyperFlex HCI line in 2023 and chose not to re‑engineer the Azure Local bundles to meet Microsoft’s new requirements.
