Cisternino hosts 28th International Music Band Festival amid Italy's folk celebrations

The town of Cisternino in southern Italy celebrated the 28th edition of its International Music Band Festival from July 16 to 19. The event featured a prologue concert by the Junior Band AMC and the Vitino Zizzi Wind Orchestra, a scenography designed by internationally‑known dancer Arianna Soleti, and narration by actor Giuseppe Ciciriello. International ensembles from Sardinia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Sicily, Portugal and the Marche region performed, while Francesco Pannofino introduced a Pinocchio‑themed show and comedian Rocco Papaleo closed the festival with a special performance.

Meanwhile, the Ittiri Folk Festa in Sardinia staged a Grand Parade with roughly 300 participants, mixing local Sardinian groups with foreign ensembles from Ukraine, Montenegro, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and Peru. The parade showcased traditional costumes, folk dances and musical displays, highlighting collaborations between the municipal authorities and cultural associations.

Both festivals underscored a vibrant summer of multicultural music and folk traditions across Italy.
