Citadel Securities acquires 3.8% stake in FuelCell Energy

Citadel Securities has acquired a 3.8% passive stake in FuelCell Energy, holding 3,015,372 shares according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

In addition to the institutional investment, FuelCell Energy executive John Homer Livingston III purchased 26,343 common shares at an average price of $18.79 per share in mid-July. The company is currently focusing on applying fuel cell technology to power data centers, following Equinix's plan to use fuel cells as a primary energy source for a site in San Jose. Research into catalyst optimization also aims to reduce the reliance on expensive platinum in energy production.
