Citi to end grandfathered benefits for former Barclays Aviator cardholders
Citi has notified cardholders who migrated from Barclays AAdvantage Aviator cards that certain grandfathered benefits will expire on October 25, 2026.
Cardholders who transitioned from the Barclays Aviator Red to the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select will lose the “Anniversary $25 Wi-Fi Credit” and the “American Airlines Companion Certificate” benefit. While the companion certificate benefit will end, any certificates already earned will remain valid through their original expiration dates.
Former Aviator Silver cardholders who now hold the Citi AAdvantage Globe Mastercard will see the removal of several perks, including 2X AAdvantage miles on car rentals and hotels, a $25 daily food and beverage credit, and an “Anniversary $50 Wi-Fi Credit”. After the deadline, these users will revert to earning the 1X AAdvantage base mile for those categories.
