Citi updates AAdvantage credit cards and expands ThankYou points partners

Citi and American Airlines have announced updates to the Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select and Business World Elite Mastercard. Beginning January 24, 2027, the annual fee for both cards will increase from $99 to $150.

The Platinum Select card will introduce new benefits, including 3X miles on AAdvantage Hotels and Cars, 2X miles on gas (including EV charging), select streaming services, and Rides and Rails purchases. Additional perks include up to $120 for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck every four years, up to $100 in annual inflight statement credits, and a complimentary annual Walmart+ membership. The American Airlines Flight Discount for the Platinum Select card will also increase from $125 to $150 after $20,000 in annual spending.

The Business card will receive 3X miles on AAdvantage Hotels and Cars, along with a 2X miles option for one self-selected category, such as U.S. shipping providers or office supply stores.

Separately, Citi has expanded its ThankYou points ecosystem, which now includes 16 airline transfer partners. Notable additions and unique 1:1 transfer options include American Airlines, Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, Copa Airlines, and EVA Air. While the airline roster has strengthened, the program remains less competitive for hotel transfers compared to rivals like Chase or American Express.
