Citibank Kenya to close Mombasa branch to centralize operations
Citibank Kenya has announced the closure of its Mombasa branch, effective November 30, 2026. The decision is part of a strategic plan to consolidate physical operations and centralize corporate banking services at the bank’s Nairobi headquarters.
The bank stated that the move aims to optimize its corporate banking network in response to the increasing use of digital banking services. Citibank noted that the transition has received all necessary regulatory approvals.
To ensure continuity, the bank assured customers that the closure will not disrupt the availability or security of their products and services. Clients can continue to access institutional banking through CitiDirect and other electronic platforms. Additionally, customers will maintain access to dedicated assistance from Relationship Managers and Client Service teams. Citibank emphasized that this closure does not signify an exit from the Kenyan market, reaffirming its commitment to the country’s financial sector.
