Citizen celebrates 50 years of Eco-Drive technology
Citizen is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Eco-Drive light-powered technology, which was first introduced in 1976 with the Crystron Solar Cell. To mark the milestone, the company is releasing several new models.
The limited-edition Citizen Eco-Drive PHOTON features a unique dial inspired by Thomas Young’s light wave experiment, which creates a color-changing effect based on light angles. Both PHOTON versions (BJ6560-53W and BJ6569-59X) are limited to 5,000 pieces worldwide and feature an integrated titanium bracelet.
Additionally, Citizen is introducing a new Promaster Marine model. This professional diver’s watch meets ISO 6425 standards, features a stainless steel case, and utilizes the Eco-Drive Caliber E118, which provides a power reserve of up to 365 days on a full charge. The brand is also releasing a limited Promaster Tsuno Chrono to commemorate the anniversary.
