Citlalli Hernández denounces harassment after restaurant incident
Citlalli Hernández, president of the Morena National Elections Commission, has denounced harassment and classism after being photographed without her consent while dining at the Negroni restaurant in Mexico City.
Addressing the incident on social media, Hernández anticipated potential criticism regarding the principles of austerity. She clarified that austerity and the concept of a ‘just middle class’ do not prohibit public officials from using their own money for personal expenses, such as dining at a restaurant on a Sunday.
She emphasized that austerity means governing without privileges or excesses at the expense of the public treasury, rather than being forbidden from personal spending. Hernández also criticized the behavior of those who took the photos and shared her receipt, suggesting that if individuals wanted a photograph with her, they should have asked directly.
