Citroen to revive iconic 2CV as affordable electric model
Citroen is preparing to revive its iconic 2CV model as an affordable electric vehicle. The company plans to showcase a concept car at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, with a production version expected to hit the market around 2028.
The new electric 2CV aims to maintain the original model's philosophy of being simple, practical, and inexpensive. Citroen has set a target price of under 15,000 euros for the entry-level version before subsidies. The vehicle will sit within the brand's lineup between the Ami quadricycle and the C3.
Design elements of the prototype include nods to the classic post-war model, such as rounded LED headlights positioned high on the front fenders, a ribbed hood, and steel-style wheels paired with Michelin tires. Manufacturing is expected to take place at the Pomigliano d’Arco plant in Italy, as part of a Stellantis strategy to produce small, low-cost electric urban cars.
