Citroën unveils electric 2CV concept for 2028 release

Citroën has introduced an all-electric 2CV Concept at the Paris Motor Show, signaling a return of the iconic model as an affordable electric vehicle. The concept features retro design elements including rounded headlights, a corrugated hood, and a canvas folding roof, while maintaining a compact length of 3.76 meters.

The production version is expected to launch in 2028 with manufacturing based in Europe. Citroën aims to target a price point of approximately 15,000 euros, positioning the vehicle to meet a growing demand for small, accessible electric mobility. This strategic move aligns with proposed EU regulatory frameworks designed to encourage the production of compact, low-cost electric vehicles within the region.

The project, initiated under Citroën President Xavier Chardon, seeks to leverage the brand's historical legacy to address modern urban mobility challenges, much like the original 2CV provided motorized transport to post-war France.
