Citroën celebrates legacy of AX and Xsara Picasso models
The Citroën AX is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Launched in 1986, the small French city car was designed to fill gaps in the Citroën lineup during a difficult financial period for the PSA Group. Utilizing early computer-aided design, the AX focused on extreme lightweight construction and efficiency, with basic models weighing as little as 630 kg and achieving a drag coefficient of 0.31.
In another look at the brand's legacy, the Citroën Xsara Picasso is noted for its success in the Brazilian market between 2001 and 2012. Known for its interior space and technology, the model has become a sought-after vehicle in the used car market. Analysis of its original 2001 launch price in Brazil, which ranged between R$ 37,200 and R$ 41,300, provides a basis for calculating its theoretical value today when adjusted for inflation.
