Citroën unveils electric 2CV concept at Paris Motor Show

Citroën has introduced the 2CV Concept and the 2CV Fourgonnette Concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, reviving the spirit of its iconic historical model for the electric era. The new 2CV Concept is a compact electric hatchback measuring 3.76 meters in length, designed to be an affordable urban vehicle. It features design nods to the original 1948 model, including rounded headlights, a curved hood, and a retractable canvas roof. Notably, the doors include dedicated compartments for eggs, a tribute to the original's design requirement to transport eggs across rough terrain without breaking them.

The 2CV Fourgonnette Concept serves as a professional utility variant, reimagining the classic van for modern small businesses and delivery services. While the Fourgonnette is currently a design study without immediate production plans, the standard 2CV Concept is expected to reach showrooms by 2028. Citroën aims to position the vehicle between the Ami and C3 models, with a target starting price of approximately 15,000 euros to compete with low-cost electric options.

Stellantis, Citroën's parent company, is leveraging this revival to address the demand for accessible electric mobility in Europe. The development of these models involves collaboration with Chinese partners, such as Leapmotor, to accelerate the engineering of new electric platforms.
