Citroën unveils electric 2CV concept with €15,000 target price

Citroën has unveiled a new electric concept for the 2CV, aiming to revive the iconic ‘people’s car’ as an affordable urban vehicle. The model is expected to launch in approximately two years with a target price of around €15,000.

To achieve this price point, Stellantis is reportedly collaborating with the Chinese company Leapmotor to develop a new platform. The vehicle is described as a compact, functional electric car, measuring roughly 3.80 meters in length and weighing approximately one tonne. Design elements intended to evoke the original model include round headlights and a fabric folding roof.

Citroën is also working with the European Commission to discuss regulatory changes that could facilitate the production of such small, economical electric vehicles, including potential new homologation categories and more favorable emission reduction calculations.
