Citronela Doc festival begins in Ilhabela with new awards
The 6th edition of the Citronela Doc documentary festival is taking place in Ilhabela, Brazil, from August 25 to 30. This year marks a new phase for the event, introducing competitive categories for both the National and Regional Showcases.
All festival activities are free to the public. The programming includes an International Showcase in partnership with the Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI) from Colombia, a Children's Showcase with Recria Cine, and a masterclass featuring prominent Brazilian documentarian and producer João Moreira Salles.
From over 550 entries, selected works represent 12 Brazilian states, the Federal District, and five cities from the North Coast and Vale do Paraíba regions. National competition films will vie for awards for Best Feature, Best Short, and Honorable Mention. Regional films will compete for Best Regional Film and Best Debut Director. Notable films in the national competition include ‘A Fabulosa Máquina do Tempo’ by Eliza Capa and ‘O Pai e o Pajé’ by Iawarete Kaiabi, Felipe Tomazelli, and Luís Villaça.
