Citronela Doc festival enters new phase in Ilhabela

The 6th edition of Citronela Doc, a documentary festival held in Ilhabela, São Paulo, will take place from August 25 to 30. This edition introduces several changes, including the transformation of the National and Regional Showcases into competitive categories.

A new International Showcase has been launched in partnership with the Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI) from Colombia. The festival also features a Children's Showcase in collaboration with Recria Cine and a masterclass titled ‘The Documentary Problem’ led by renowned Brazilian filmmaker João Moreira Salles.

With over 550 entries from 12 Brazilian states and the Federal District, the competition includes awards for Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, and Honorable Mention in the National Showcase, as well as Best Regional Film and Best Debut Director in the Regional Showcase. Additional honors include the Utopia Docs Prize and the todesplay Acquisition Prize. All in-person programming is free to the public.
