Citrus producers in Turkey receive harvest quality training
Agricultural training programs focused on citrus harvesting techniques have been conducted for producers in the Tarsus and Hatay regions of Turkey. These initiatives aim to improve product quality and minimize losses during and after the harvest process.
In Tarsus, coordinated by the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and hosted by the Tarsus Commodity Exchange, experts provided instruction on efficient harvesting methods and preventing quality degradation. Mustafa Teke, President of the Tarsus Commodity Exchange, emphasized that access to up-to-date technical information is vital for maintaining the region's significant position in citrus production.
In Hatay, a similar training session led by Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Abdurrahman Türkmen addressed the entire production chain. The program covered determining optimal harvest timing, using appropriate collection equipment, and proper transportation and storage methods. The sessions focused on reducing mechanical damage and post-harvest losses to preserve product value and increase overall efficiency.
