Città dell'Olio association welcomes two new Italian municipalities
The national association Città dell'Olio (Cities of Oil) has expanded its network with the inclusion of two new Italian municipalities: Civitaquana in the Abruzzo region and Poggio Moiano in the Lazio region.
In Abruzzo, the municipality of Civitaquana aims to leverage the association to promote its local extra virgin olive oil, strengthen its agricultural identity, and create new opportunities for tourism and landscape valorization. Michele Sonnessa, president of the association, noted the importance of small towns in protecting olive oil heritage.
In Lazio, the addition of Poggio Moiano brings the total number of member municipalities in the region to 52. Local officials emphasized that joining the network will allow for the sharing of experiences and participation in national projects, further establishing the Sabina area as a national reference point for olive cultivation quality and sustainable development.
