City of Parramatta opens 2027 Citizen of the Year nominations

The City of Parramatta has opened nominations for the 2027 Citizen of the Year Awards. The annual program, held as part of the council’s Australia Day celebrations, recognizes individuals, community groups, and organizations that make outstanding contributions to the local area.

Eligible categories for recognition include community service, sport, education, business, arts and culture, environmental care, leadership, and volunteering. Lord Mayor Martin Zaiter encouraged residents to nominate local mentors, coaches, neighbors, and volunteers who help the community thrive.

Nominations must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 30. Additionally, community members can apply to join the judging panel, with expressions of interest accepted from September 14 to October 26. The award recipients will be announced at a ceremony on Monday, January 25, 2027.
