City of Perth council defers return of CEO Michelle Reynolds

The City of Perth council has voted to defer a motion to reinstate Chief Executive Michelle Reynolds. A notice of motion, introduced by councillor Catherine Lezer, sought to return Reynolds to her position effective immediately.

Reynolds has been suspended from her duties since May following a confidential meeting involving Local Government Inspector Tony Brown. The council decided to postpone any decision regarding her return until the conclusion of an ongoing workplace investigation and the presentation of subsequent options.

Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds stated that the decision to defer should not be interpreted as a specific stance by the council on the matter. He noted that the council must adhere to obligations regarding confidentiality, procedural fairness, and employment matters.
