City of Sydney Council agrees to dim Potts Point street lights
The City of Sydney Council has reached a resolution with restaurant owner Nahji Chu regarding the brightness of new LED street lights in Potts Point. Following a dispute, the council conceded that the lights above the Roslyn Street restaurant strip were excessively bright and has agreed to significantly dim them.
Nahji Chu, owner of Lady Chu Vietnamese restaurant, had criticized the “smart” LED lights as being far more intrusive than those in surrounding areas. The dispute became a local flashpoint, reflecting broader debates regarding the leadership of Lord Mayor Clover Moore and whether government regulations are impacting the city’s late-night economy.
