City officials tighten bar inspections in Argentina and Mexico

In Córdoba, Argentina, municipal director Ezequiel Hormaeche explained the revocation of the licence for the Wachitas bar after unauthorized demolition of a wall and other violations. He noted the city’s inspection system, with 697 closures last year and 75 interventions in the past two months, and described the digital platform used since 2021.

In Guanajuato, Mexico, fiscalization director Gustavo Buck González announced increased joint inspections with police, social services and prosecutors to prevent minors from entering bars and cantinas. The operation, following a recent closure after a fight, has led to at least 15 closures this year for violations such as operating past curfew, and officials will check IDs using voter cards.
