City Oilers defeat Namuwongo Blazers in overtime to lead NBL Finals
The City Oilers secured a 76–72 overtime victory against the Namuwongo Blazers in Game Three of the National Basketball League (NBL) Men’s Finals at Lugogo. The win gives the Oilers a 2–1 lead in the best-of-seven series, placing them two wins away from the championship.
The match was marked by high tension and officiating controversy. Following a disputed no-call involving Nyembo Fataki and Patrick Rembert just before the end of regulation, the Oilers engaged in a several-minute protest regarding the officiating. Despite the distraction, the game proceeded to overtime after the Blazers forced a 64–64 tie with a late three-pointer.
Nyembo Fataki led the Blazers with 28 points and eight rebounds, while Anthony Chukwubuka added 13 points and 11 rebounds. However, the Blazers struggled with efficiency, shooting only 30% from the field. For the Oilers, Patrick Rembert scored 22 points, including five three-pointers, and secured the win with crucial free throws in the final seconds of overtime. Germaine Roebuck contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds to the victory.
