Times Higher Education 2027 World University Rankings released

The 2027 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings have been released, evaluating 2,297 institutions across 118 countries. The rankings highlight significant shifts in global academic standing, particularly for institutions in Asia and Latin America.

In Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) reached a historic high, ranking 70th globally and maintaining the top spot in the “Industry” pillar for four consecutive years. In Macau, the University of Macau held its 154th position, while the University of Science and Technology of Macau remained 269th. The University of Macau City University saw a notable rise into the 451–500 range.

Brazil saw major advancements, with the University of São Paulo (USP) reaching its best-ever position at 141st, marking the first time a Brazilian institution has entered the global top 150. Unicamp also achieved a record position in the top 350. Other Brazilian institutions, including UFRJ and Unesp, also appeared in the rankings.

In Europe, the University of Beira Interior (UBI) in Portugal was recognized as the top national institution for “Research Quality,” maintaining its position within the global top 800.
