Ciudad de Pie wins second place in world Neapolitan pizza championship

The Valparaíso-based pizzeria Ciudad de Pie has achieved second place in the Vera Pizza Napoletana category at the Vera Pizza Champion competition held in Italy. Organized by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), the championship featured more than 350 master pizzaiolos from over 30 countries.

Founding partners Renato Colombo and Sebastián Toledo earned the recognition after eight years of practice and dedication. For the competition, Colombo prepared a Margherita pizza following the same standards used at their establishment in Valparaíso.

Colombo noted that the achievement is deeply connected to his family history, as his father, Giovanni Colombo, was an Italian immigrant who settled in Valparaíso in 1956. Following this international success, the business plans to professionalize its team and intends to open a new location between Reñaca and Concón later this year.
