Ciudad del Carmen Comptroller faces removal over audit failures

Eric Espinosa Ferrer, the Comptroller of Ciudad del Carmen, is facing potential removal from his position. According to Councilman Mario Hernández May, Espinosa Ferrer failed to respond to requirements from the Auditoría Superior del Estado de Campeche, causing administrative issues for the municipality.

Mayor Priscila Heredia Novelo reported that the Comptroller's failure to comply with the state audit procedure has negatively impacted the local government. A council session was convened to allow Espinosa Ferrer to present his version of events; however, he did not attend, citing illness. Authorities have accepted his justification to ensure his right to a hearing and will schedule a new session to determine the next steps.
