Ciudad Juan Bosch housing units triple under Dominican government

The Dominican Republic government has reported a significant expansion of the Ciudad Juan Bosch housing project. According to President Luis Abinader and Vice Minister Camel Cury Lora, the number of homes in the development has grown from approximately 4,600 to 16,800 over the last six years, representing a 300% increase.

Officials stated that the project was previously in a collapsed financial state, burdened by a debt exceeding RD$4,000 million. The central government, through the Ministry of Finance, settled this debt to stabilize the project. Following this financial restructuring, the trust (Fideicomiso) has become self-sustaining, using its own income to develop social areas and infrastructure.

Additionally, the value of land within the development has seen substantial growth, with prices per square meter rising from approximately RD$1,500 to over RD$10,000. The government plans to expand this model with a similar project in Ciudad Don Antonio Guzmán, located in Santiago.
