Ciudad Juan Bosch residents demand end to political use of housing project
Residents and community representatives of Ciudad Juan Bosch in the Dominican Republic are calling for an end to the politicization of the large-scale housing project. Community leaders urge political sectors to base their statements on verifiable facts rather than partisan interests, noting that residents possess firsthand knowledge of the area's evolution.
While acknowledging ongoing challenges, community members highlighted significant developments, including the presence of over 15,000 families. They cited the establishment of schools, childcare centers, an INFOTEP technological center, and the future UASD university campus as key milestones. Other mentioned improvements include a diagnostic center, pharmacies, sports complexes, and increased security through a second police station and a prosecutor's office.
However, residents also expressed concerns regarding the gap between the original vision of a planned modern city and current daily realities. Significant challenges remain in essential services, including transportation, healthcare, security, solid waste management, storm drainage, water access, street lighting, and the maintenance of public spaces.
