Ciudad Juárez activists collect signatures to oppose Cruz Pérez Cuéllar's 2027 gubernatorial run
On Sunday, activists from various left‑leaning groups set up a signature‑collection module in downtown Ciudad Juárez to voice opposition to the possible candidacy of Cruz Pérez Cuéllar as Morena’s candidate for the Chihuahua governorship in the 2027 election. Representative Félix Manuel Lazos Ibarra criticized the city mayor, saying he cannot claim to be a genuine left‑wing politician, and cited the municipal government's actions against migrant families that led to dozens of deaths after a fire at the city’s migrant station.
The organizers reported that just over 100 citizens have signed the petition so far. The module will remain in place on Sundays and on selected weekdays to expand support, and activists are urging the public to participate and express their stance on Pérez Cuéllar’s potential run.
